Film theater De Uitkijk is run by a group of about twelve students. We do everything ourselves — from writing texts about the films and inviting guest speakers for introductions, to maintaining the building and putting together the film program.
Working at De Uitkijk is more than just a part-time job; you learn what it’s like to run a business together, on equal footing with your colleagues. All major decisions are made collectively during our meetings, and we decide on them democratically. This close form of collaboration, where no one has more authority than anyone else, creates a tight-knit team built on equality and mutual respect.
Only students work at De Uitkijk, so when you apply, we ask that you’re enrolled at an educational institution for at least one more year. Since everyone carries their own responsibilities within De Uitkijk, we’re looking for curious and enthusiastic students who are eager to learn. Of course, we all love films — but film passion comes in many shapes and sizes, so you don’t need to be a walking film encyclopedia.
