Due to Luca Guadagnino's new release 'Challengers', we will be screening two other films by the Italian director this month: Call Me By Your Name & lo Sono l'Amore.
It's summer 1983. 24-year-old American research assistant Oliver (Hammer) travels to Northern Italy to assist Professor Perlman. He leaves a profound impression on Perlman's seventeen-year-old son Elio (superbly portrayed by Chalamet), who, to his own surprise and dismay, falls in love with Oliver. With accolades aplenty, this adaptation of André Aciman's novel of the same name by Italian filmmaker Guadagnino (known for I Am Love and A Bigger Splash) is understandable. All praise is warranted, as Call Me by Your Name is a fantastic film: sparkling, intimate, and honest.
