A year of cinema, brought together: to celebrate the new year, we present a selection of films that shaped and coloured the film landscape of 2025 from January 15 to 25.
The Brutalist follows thirty years in the life of László Tóth, a Hungarian-born Holocaust survivor. After World War II, he emigrates to the United States in pursuit of The American Dream, but initially finds the opposite: a life marked by poverty and hardship. When he, working as an architect, comes into contact with a mysterious and wealthy client, Harrison Lee Van Buren, his life takes an unexpected turn. When László is reunited with his wife Erzsébet and niece Zsófia, who have arrived from Hungary, he is confronted with the tensions between ambition, power, and survival.
