The magical realist Nayola tells the story of three generations of women who are affected by war. Nayola leaves her newborn daughter with her own mother to search for the father who is a soldier in the army. Nayola's search leads her through a terrible, confusing war and a torn country. In the present, the traces of the war are still palpable, and Nayola's teenage daughter is waging her own struggle for freedom against the regime.
