Fourteen-year-old Yuichi (Hayato Ichihara) is having a hard time in his daily life. He doesn't connect with his classmates and is severely bullied. His only escape is the music of Lily Chou-Chou, a Björk-like singer for whom he runs an online fan club. When Lily Chou-Chou announces a concert in Tokyo, it is the only thing Yuichi can think about. But fate has another surprise in store for him.
All About Lily Chou-Chou is a tragic story of friendship and betrayal. The film is ingeniously constructed, with many jump cuts and a non-linear narrative. In addition to the music of the fictional Lily Chou-Chou, the soundtrack makes extensive use of compositions by Claude Debussy. Over the past 25 years, All About Lily Chou-Chou has achieved cult status in Japan and beyond.
